Are you a good person?
Are you good enough to make it into heaven. Most people believe they are good enough to go to heaven. They conclude they mean well; therefore, they are going to heaven. Most people think we are good because we apply our own standard. Everyone has their own standard of good. There is only one standard that counts. That is God’s standard.
Here are a few questions to see how you measure up. How many lies have you told in your entire life? Have you ever stolen anything in your entire life? Ever used God’s name in vain? The Ten Commandments show us God’s standard. “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8
Truth is you are not a good person. You are just like the rest of us. The Bible says, “There is none righteous, no not one.” Romans 3:10 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
You will have your day in court. the Bible says, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” Hebrews 9:27 What do you think your day in court will be like? Are you guilty in the courtroom of Heaven? The sentence for sin is God’s eternal Jail: the Lake of Fire. An eternal madhouse with no exists. Screams of torment and darkness forever. A place you do not want to go. Where would you end up? Would it be God’s eternal jail? “For the wages (what is earned or deserved) is death.” Romans 6:23
The good news The good news is God sent his Son Jesus Christ to pay your penalty of sin. He suffered the punishment you deserve for breaking God’s laws. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:18
Repent from sin. Turn to Jesus Christ’s payment for your sin. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 Make your eternal destination sure today. “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)” 2 Corinthians 6:2
